This article provides guidelines about when to use the different work types, shift conditions and tags that are included as part of the pre-built Master Grocers Australia Limited and Shop, Distributive and Allied Employees’ Association Enterprise Agreement 2014. Given the use of shift conditions and work types used in this template, it is recommended that you review the list of work types. They will all be automatically applied to employees by default but if any are ever going to be relevant to your organisation then consider removing the 'auto enable' feature.
Coverage
This Enterprise Agreement covers employees of employers who are listed in Schedule C of the Enterprise Agreement. For further details of applicable businesses, please see Schedule C of the Enterprise Agreement.
Work Types
Work types are a description of the kind of shift you are working, and are selected when you record a timesheet. The following is a list of work types employees can select on their timesheet, and the meaning of each item.
2 hour minimum engagement
Select this for a casual employee who can be engaged for a minimum of 2 hours rather than the standard minimum engagement of 3 hours, providing they satisfy all the circumstances set out in clause 8.3.1 of the MGA Agreement.
AL Accrual of Public Holiday
Select if employee chooses to accrue annual leave for working on a Public Holiday rather than be paid the Public Holiday penalty loading payment or accrue time in lieu.
AL Accrual of Public Holiday not Worked
Select if employee is not rostered to work on a Public Holiday and chooses to accrual annual leave for this day instead of payment or accrue time in lieu for an alternative day off.
Annual Leave
Select when permanent employee is taking annual leave.
Bereavement Leave
Select when permanent employee is taking bereavement (known as compassionate) leave.
Blood Donor Leave
Select when permanent employee is taking leave to donate blood.
Community Service Leave
Select when permanent employee is taking leave to partake in community services.
Jury Service
Select when permanent employee is attending jury duty.
Kilometre Allowance
Select when employee is required to use their own motor vehicle in the performance of their duties. This is a travelling expense allowance paid per kilometre driven.
Leave without Pay
Select when employee is taking unpaid leave.
Long Service Leave
Select when employee is taking long service leave.
Natural Disaster Leave
Select when employee is unable to attend work due to a natural disaster having a direct impact on employee.
Overtime Meal Allowance
Select when employee is required to work overtime for an hour or more with less than 24 hours’ notice and could not reasonably return home for a meal within the period allowed and the overtime worked is at normally recognised meal hours. Refer clause 15.1 of the MGA Agreement.
Public Holiday not Worked
Select if employee is not required to work on a gazetted Public Holiday.
Sick/Family Leave
Select when employee is taking sick (known as personal) leave or family (known as carers’) leave.
TIL of Overtime
Select if employee chooses to accrue time in lieu rather than be paid for the overtime worked in the shift.
TIL of Public Holiday
Select if employee chooses to accrue time in lieu for working on a Public Holiday rather than be paid the Public Holiday penalty loading payment or accrue annual leave.
TIL of Public Holiday not Worked
Select if employee is not rostered to work on a Public Holiday and chooses to accrue time in lieu for this day instead of payment or accrue annual leave.
Time in Lieu
Select when employee is taking time in lieu.
Travelling Time
Select when employee is required to work at a place away from their usual place of employment. Enter the time spent travelling in excess of normal travelling time to and from usual place of employment. Refer clause 38 of the MGA Agreement.
Unpaid Family Leave
Select when employee is taking unpaid family (known as carers’) leave.
Unpaid Parental Leave
Select when employee is taking unpaid parental leave.
Working on Christmas Day with a substituted PH
Select when employee is working on the 25th of December and Christmas Day has a substituted day so employee will receive an additional loading.
Shift Conditions
Shift Conditions are further detail you can add to a shift where perhaps more than one condition applies to your shift. Shift conditions are selected when you edit a timesheet record, or when clocking on using the ClockMeIn Time and Attendance app. The following is a list of Shift Conditions employees can select on their timesheet, and the meaning of each item.
Cold Work <0 degrees
Apply to shift when employee is to receive a cold work disability allowance when required to work in a cold chamber where the temperature of the cold chamber is less than zero degrees celsius.
Cold Work >0 degrees
Apply to shift when employee is to receive a cold work disability allowance when required to work in a cold chamber where the temperature of the cold chamber is more than zero degrees celsius, and/or stock and refill dairy cases or freezer cabinets.
First Aid Officer
Apply to shift when employee holds an appropriate first aid qualification and has been appointed to carry out first aid.
Employee Tags
Employee Tags are specific conditions typically related to the employee’s agreement. These are often conditions negotiated and agreed between the employer and the employee, or unique characteristics of the employee’s role.
30 Minute Break Agreement
Assign when employer and employee agree employee is to take 30 minutes for the unpaid meal break.
AL Accrual of Public Holiday
Assign if employee always chooses to accrue annual leave for working on a Public Holiday rather than be paid the Public Holiday penalty loading payment or accrue time in lieu.
First Aid Officer
Assign when employee holds and appropriate first aid qualification and has been appointed to carry out first aid during every shift they work.
Full-Time Stock Replenisher
Assign when employee is employed on a full-time basis and engaged as a stock replenisher.
Junior Minimum 8 Hours per Week Agreement
Assign when employer and junior employee agree junior employee works a minimum of 8 hours per week.
Level 5 Clerical Employee
Assign when employee is engaged to perform Clerical work and is classified as Level 5. Refer to clause 11.2 of the MGA Agreement for description of classification.
Part-Time Stock Replenisher
Assign when employee is employed on a Part-Time basis and engaged as a stock replenisher.
TIL of Overtime
Assign if employee always chooses to accrue time in lieu rather than be paid for the overtime worked in the shift.
TIL of Public Holiday
Assign if employee always chooses to accrue time in lieu for working on a Public Holiday rather than be paid the Public Holiday penalty loading payment or accrue annual leave.
Variation of Rate of Pay by Agreement
Assign when employer and employee agree to waiver the loadings prescribed in Clauses 14.2 and 20.3 of the MGA Agreement in return for the prescribed increase in the ordinary weekly rate for overtime worked from 10pm-12am Monday to Friday, set out in Clause 11.4.2 of the MGA Agreement.
Variation of Rate of Pay by Agreement 10pm-11pm
Assign when employer and employee agree to waiver the loadings prescribed in Clauses 14.2 and 20.3 of the MGA Agreement in return for the prescribed increase in the ordinary weekly rate for overtime worked from 10pm-11pm Monday to Friday, set out in Clause 11.4.2 of the MGA Agreement.
Variation of Rate of Pay by Agreement 11pm-12am
Assign when employer and employee agree to waiver the loadings prescribed in Clauses 14.2 and 20.3 of the MGA Agreement in return for the prescribed increase in the ordinary weekly rate for overtime worked from 11pm-12am Monday to Friday, set out in Clause 11.4.2 of the MGA Agreement.

July 2022
The Agreement has been updated to reflect the Fair Work Commission’s National Minimum Wage increase of detailed in the Annual Wage Review 2021-22 decision. These changes come into effect from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2022. Please install these updates AFTER you have finalised your last pay run prior to the first full pay period commencing on or after 1 July.
November 2021
The Award has been updated in line with the ATO's requirements for STP Phase 2 reporting. The reporting of gross earnings are now being disaggregated into distinguishable categories. September 2021
The Agreement has been updated to reflect the Fair Work Commission’s National Minimum Wage increase of 2.5% detailed in the Annual Wage Review 2020-21 decision. These changes come into effect from the first full pay period on or after 1 September 2021. Please install these updates AFTER you have finalised your last pay run prior to the first full pay period commencing on or after 1 September 2021.
December 2018
The setup of the Payroll Tax Exempt field in Payroll Settings>Pay Categories was replicating the PAYG Exempt field rather than creating a unique identity; when installed into the business settings. An audit has been carried out across the system and the issue has now been resolved with this update.
June 2018
The Award has been updated to reflect the Fair Work Commission’s national minimum wage increase of 3.5% from its Annual Wage Review 2017-18 decision. This also includes updates to expense-related allowances.
These changes come into effect from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2018. Please install these updates AFTER you have finalised your last pay run prior to the first full pay period commencing on or after 1 July 2018.
Additionally, the following change have been made as part of this update:
- The Payment Summary Classification settings for Allowance based pay categories have been updated as per Single Touch Payroll (STP) requirements.
