1) How Devices Handle Locations
Old App:
- The device is registered to a specific location via Settings > Location Devices.
- Employee clock events are attached to the registered device location.
- The timesheet location is based on the clock-in event unless the company setting “Use employee’s primary location in timesheet” is enabled.
New App:
- A Clock User is created and assigned location access with Clock Device permissions.
- The clock location can be set to any location the Clock User has access to.
- The timesheet location is based on the clock-in event, unless the company setting “Use employee’s primary location in timesheet” is enabled.
Key Company Settings:
- Allow employees to select a clock-in location:
- If enabled, employees can select a location (child location of the device’s selected location) during clock-in.
- Use employee’s primary location in timesheet:
- If enabled, the timesheet defaults to the employee’s primary location when no shift or location is provided.
