In this article in The Rules Series, we show how to configure the rules engine to use the Above X hours consecutively condition.
How the Above X hours consecutively condition works
Overview
The Above X hours consecutively condition matches the portion of timesheets that exceeds the number of hours configured.
For example, when the Above X hours consecutively condition is configured with eight (8) hours, a timesheet with 12 hours of time worked would match the last four (4) hours.
Each timesheet is evaluated individually.

An example
In this example, each shift in excess of eight (8) hours awards the employee an additional 15% penalty for the time in excess of eight hours.
Instructions
Create a Pay Rule and Pay Rule Version. (see: How to: Create a new Global Pay Rule, and How to: Create a new Global Pay Rule Version for examples)
Navigate to edit the pay rule version, and expand the Rules
In the conditions section, select Above X hours consecutively
Configure the Number of hours for this condition.
Configure the action you want to take for this condition.
Save your pay rule version.
