In this article in The Rules Series, we show how to configure the rules engine to use the Time worked without a break condition.
How the Time worked without a break condition works
The Time worked without a break condition matches portions of time that occur when the employee works for longer than a configured period without taking some form of break.
The configuration includes the threshold for hours, as well as whether to assess whether to check only the period prior to the first break in this shift, or all breaks.
Number of hours
Describes the threshold after which the condition will start matching time, until the employee has a break.
When to check
Whether to check only prior to the first break in the shift, or for any and all breaks in a shift

In this example, employee are paid an additional penalty for any hours worked in excess of 5 hours prior to the employee’s first break only.
