In this article in The Rules Series, we show how to configure the rules engine to use the Top up timesheet to X hours condition.
How the Top up timesheet to X hours condition works
Overview
The Top up timesheet to X hours condition creates matches whether the length of worked hours in a timesheet does not reach a required threshold of hours.
Note: This is different to the Minimum length action, in that this condition creates matches for the missing hours, but does not change the timesheet end time(s).
This condition has no impact on the end time of the timsheet, and therefore other conditions that look at the length of the timesheet, or its end time will continue to see the ‘original' end time of the timesheet as it has been recorded.
The minimum length action changes the end time of the timesheet data, meaning that subsequent conditions that look at the length of a timesheet, or the end time of a timesheet, see the ‘adjusted’ end time as calculated by the action.
Configuration options
Name | Description | Data Type | Example value |
---|---|---|---|
Number of hours | The number of hours to ‘top up’ timesheets to if the number of hours worked on the timesheet is less than this threshold | Number | 4 |
An example
In this example, an employee works less than four hours in a shift. The condition creates a match for the requisite topup of hours, but does not change the end time of the timesheet, so subsequent conditions match the original start and end time of the timesheet.
